Today I am blogging Sri Rama Navami special Vada pappu. Vadapappu with panakam will be offered as naivedyam to Lord Rama on Sri Rama Navami. Raw mangoes are used for preparing this prasad. As we are from brahmin family we use to offer this to ladies with haldi kumkum done for lord Gowri in this Chatramasam. Non sweet lovers like me will enjoy this dish definitely.
Ingredinents:
Chana dal : 1 cup (soaked overnight)
Raw mango grated - 1 cup(according to taste, if u want more sourness can add more)
Salt - 2 teaspoons(adjust)
Red Chilli powder - 2 teaspoons(adjust)
Thadka/Popu:
Oil - 2 teaspoons
Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
Split black gram dal - 1/2 teaspoon
Jeera - 1 teaspoon
Hing - 1/2 teaspoon
Curry leaves - 4
Method:
- Take a vessel, add soaked chana dal, grated mango, salt, chilli powder and mix well
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, let it splutter, add jeera, blackgram, hing, curryleaves, cook till dal turns red.
- Add this tampering to the vessel.
- Serve with panakam after naivedyam.
